FAQ
HOW OLD DO WE NEED TO BE ?
Over the age of 18 years.
At the ceremony two witnesses over the age of 18 years are required.
WHEN CAN WE BE MARRIED?
The “Notice of Intended Marriage” needs to be lodged with me at least 18 months prior to, and no later than one month and one day before the wedding date.
WHAT PAPERWORK DO WE NEED?
Your original birth certificates. If you were born overseas you will need either your original birth certificate or overseas passport which shows the date and place of birth. Should either party have been married previously, a copy of the death certificate or proof of divorce.
WHERE CAN WE BE MARRIED?
In Australia, you may be married at any time at any place on Australian soil. My fee is based upon travel within the Newcastle / Port Stephens / Lake Macquarie / Hunter Valley areas. I am available to perform marriage ceremonies anywhere else in Australia at a negotiated fee.
HOW FLEXIBLE CAN THE CEREMONY BE?
Within the guidelines of the Marriage Act 1961 (and good taste,) you are free to design a ceremony which reflects your love for each other. You can include your own readings, musical choices, vows, religious prayers and the participation of children or other family members. My comprehensive wedding folder will assist you in this.
SHOULD WE HAVE A REHEARSAL?
Where the wedding is confined to immediate family members and friends, a rehearsal earlier that day usually suffices.
Larger gatherings may dictate that a rehearsal be held one or two weeks beforehand.
